The price of illegal drugs is high enough that addicts must resort to theft and burglary to acquire enough money to support their habits. The drugs are not that expensive to manufacture (although the Canadian government would have one think so, given their 1500% markup on medicinal marijuana), it is their illegality that keeps them expensive. As for DARE, I have read more than one forum post from young cannabis users who claim that it was 'educational' programs such as DARE that aroused their curiosity and desire to try cannabis in the first place.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061971.post-77007687399121796662007-04-12T01:52:00.000-04:002007-04-12T01:52:00.000-04:00O, good luck using nanny-state arguments to convin...O, good luck using nanny-state arguments to convince your fellow conservatives to give up the war on drugs. We lock up an incredible number of our citizens for harmless activities. I wonder why neither drugs nor the number of incarcerated Americans even shows up among national politicians. The Objectivisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00416501145750028695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061971.post-51814098586507301282007-04-11T17:07:00.000-04:002007-04-11T17:07:00.000-04:00One wonders what lesson from prohibition the anti-...One wonders what lesson from prohibition the anti-drug crowd learned. At least Bill Bennett is up front about taking seriously the idea that prohibition should have been left in place. The Objectivisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00416501145750028695noreply@blogger.com
